Gardening tools are essential to getting the job done in the garden. There are so many on the market it may be overwhelming when buying as a beginner gardener. It also depends on what exactly you’re looking for in a kit. Do you want a wide selection of tools as a great starter kit? Do you need an organizer for your tools? There are even different types of organizers for all your tools to fit in, which I’ll be going over as well.
I’ve compiled a list of the top 17 best gardening tool sets listed on Amazon to help put your mind at ease. If you’re thinking about holiday gift ideas or looking to get started with tools, these are good options. Are any of these sets worth it?
This post is all about the best garden tool sets.
Table of Contents
Gardening Tool Sets for Everyone
In looking for the best gardening tool sets on Amazon, it can be a little bit frustrating. There are both outdoor and indoor sets of tools. Indoor tools are ones that would be used on houseplants, such as succulents and thus considerably smaller than what you’d need for outdoor gardening. There are even bonsai care kits. So I’ve sifted through the kits and eliminated anything to do with indoor gardening. Each of the sets come with different types of tools. Really it’s all about picking the best quality item and what suits your needs.
I always check out the reviews and the star ratings on Amazon. The higher the star rating, the better. However, I don’t rely solely on the ratings. I also like to see the comments that other customers are making and the possible hiccups that can come with a product.
I’ve also listed any existing deals. Plus I’m sure you can snag even better deals as Black Friday and the holidays approach.
Terminology for Buying the Best Garden Tool Sets
Before we move ahead to look at each of the sets, we’ll briefly review the terminology of each of the tools. This will be helpful for beginner gardeners buying tools and those buying gifts for gardeners so they know what’s included.

The Line Up – The Best Gardening Tool Sets on Amazon
For each of the sets, I wanted to give you an overall picture of the product, and at the end, I’ll provide a conclusion of my thoughts on the top 3 you may want to consider purchasing. What I discuss in each section is: the star rating of each set, how many pieces come in the set, which tools are very useful and a good option to consider, what tools are included in the set, and a pros and cons table highlighting what was trending in the reviews written.
1. Scuddles Gardening Tools $26.99
The Scuddles Gardening Tools kit comes in a variety of different options. There are choices for an 8-piece, 9-piece, 10-piece, 11-piece, and 12-piece kit. The 9-piece kit is ranked as the top outdoor gardening kit on Amazon with 7,251 reviews and a 4.5 star rating out of a possible 5 as of the writing of this post. The difference between each of the kits is the organizers that come with them as well as the types of tools you receive.
Since the top ranking kit is the 9-piece set, I’ll be focusing on that for this review. It comes with a bucket organizer (see photo) that can be folded and holds up to 6 gallons of soil. A little bucket is a good perk if you’re moving around some soil/dirt. It has 9 slots along the outside of the bucket to keep your tools together and organized.
What’s included in the kit
- 10 gallon foldable bucket organizer: made from 600D fabric (polyester).
- Planting shovel
- Pruners
- Gardening Fork
- Hand rake
- Gardening gloves
- Cutting shears
- 25 oz spray bottle
The tools are made out of a high caliber cast aluminum and can be used for digging, weeding, aerating, loosening soil, and transplanting.
73% of the reviews gave the kit 5 stars and recommended it, stating it was a great value for your money at $26.99. Right now, there’s a 5% discount on it as well. However, those who gave it a 1 star review (2%, which only came out to 20 reviews) do not recommend it for heavy duty gardening, contrary to the description of the kit. They recommend light gardening if you decide to buy this kit.
What was disappointing about buying from this company is that although it is a US based company, the tools aren’t made in the US.
Weighing the Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
10 gallon bucket that organizes tools and can carry 6 gallons of dirt | Not recommended for heavy duty gardening |
Pair of gardening gloves comes with this set. | Company is US based but the item is not made in the US. |
Comes in a variety of tool options | Does not provide the size of gloves. |
2. CHRYZTAL Garden Tool Set $29.96 (and $3 coupon)
The Chryztal Garden tool set comes in 3 different options, however, we’ll be focusing on their 7 piece set that is amongst the top rated on Amazon. It has 2,056 reviews and a 4.5 star rating out of a possible 5. Each of the tools comes with a non-slip rubber handle and they’re made of stainless steel. The cloth tote has several pockets for storing your tools and comes in black with orange trim. The company boasts that it’s made of sturdy material.
The kit includes the following items:
- Cloth tote
- large trowel
- small trowel
- Cultivator
- Hand rake
- Weeder
- Pruning shears
Out of all the reviews the kit received, 83% of the reviewers gave it 5 stars. Like the Scuddles gardening set, it seems to be a great starter kit for light gardening. The tools do not appear to be up to par for heavy duty gardening. One reviewer stated that the tools were not adequate for heavy clay soils.
Pros | Cons |
Comes with a tote for organizing your tools and a large middle pocket for extra storage. | Not for heavy duty gardening |
Comes with a weeder (great for stubborn weeds) | Not adequate for heavier soils like clay. |
Great choice for beginner gardeners |
3. Grenebo Gardening Tools $21.99
The Grenebo Gardening Tools is a 9-piece set and does not come in other options. It has a 4.5 star rating out of a possible 5 stars with 766 reviews. It comes with an organizer tote with a floral print on the pockets. The main part of the bag is green. The listing does not state what the tote is made out of. The tools are made out of stainless steel.
In this kit, you receive the following:
- Pruning Shears
- Garden Trowel
- Transplanter
- Weeder
- Hand Fork
- Hand Rake
- Spray Bottle
- Garden Gloves
- Hand Bag
This kit seems to fare better than the aforementioned 2 kits. 75% of the reviews it received were 5 stars with only 1% of the reviews rated at 1 star. This kit too may be best for light gardening. One reviewer said they were able to use the tools in clay soil. However, others did not appreciate their quality. Additionally, one of the reviewers noted that the gloves come in a size Small.
Pros | Cons |
Nice size tote with pockets to store tools and large middle pocket for extra storage | Gloves come in a size Small |
Good option for beginner gardeners or those doing light garden work | Bag has floral pattern on it so may not be suitable for everyone |
Comes with a weeder which is useful for weeding | Durability of the tools is questionable. |
4. Fiskars 384490-1002 Garden Scratch Tool Set $23.97
If you’re already a gardener and looking to add to your collection of tools, then you may have already heard of Fiskars. I have a few of their products and really like them. Each of the tools I have are very light weight, yet sturdy.
I highly recommend grabbing some of their tools! My favorite tool is their 15 Inch PowerGear Super Pruner/Lopper.
This kit comes with 3 tools and does not have any type of organizers like the previous listings do. It has aluminum tools and are of great quality. A majority of the reviewers on Amazon exclaimed the same. These tools are sturdy and hold up well. I’m surprised these rated higher on Amazon’s list of the best gardening tool sets. They received a 4.8 star rating out of a possible 5.
The set includes the following:
- Shovel
- Hand rake
- Spade for weed removal
Fiskars says these tools are best suited for digging, weeding, loosening soil, aerating and transplanting. What is great about the spade is that it has a depth measurement ruler so you can easily see how far down you’ve dug. The handles have SoftGrip technology, but it does not say what the material actually is. This item does not come with an organizer such as a tote or bucket like the other items previously discussed above.
Pros | Cons |
Well known brand name known for quality products. | Finnish company but the item is made in China. |
Easy depth measurement on spade | Only a set of 3 tools |
Set can be used for digging, aerating, planting, and weeding. Diverse set in spite of only 3 tools. | Prop 65 warning (required by CA) |
5. FiveJoy Garden Tool Set $29.99
The FiveJoy Garden Tool set is an 11-piece set with a cloth tote. The tote is a great option since it has pockets. It has cast aluminum tools and a few other items included. These other items differ from what we’ve looked at previously.
The set includes:
- Large trowel
- Small trowel
- Hand rake
- Cultivator
- Weeder
- Pruning shears
- 100ft gardening rope
- Handheld sprayer
- Digging claw gardening gloves
- Pruning shears
- Oxford cloth tote
The Ratings
What is great about this kit is that it comes with a weeder, which will be so useful when weeding in the garden. Some of the weeds that grow in the garden are a bit difficult to rip out by hand. Gardening rope also comes in handy if you have to string up any of your plants on a stake. I usually just use twine whenever I have to do so, but this is a good addition to have in a starter kit. The bundle received a 4.7 out 5 star rating with 814 reviews. 78% of the reviews agreed that these items are sturdy in the garden. The gloves that come with the set have digging claws on one of the gloves, which definitely come in handy when working in the garden.
Overall, this set should probably only be used for light duty gardening.
Weighing the Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Company is based out of NY. | May be only suitable for light duty gardening |
Large tote with deep pockets made of durable canvas. | Does not provide the size of gloves. |
Kit can be used for pruning, shoveling, digging, planting, watering, raking, weeding, and other tasks.
Trowel has depth measurements
Comes with pliable garden rope/tie wrap |
6. Play22 Gardening Tools Set of 10 $21.99
The Play22 Gardening Tools set comes with 10-pieces. It comes with an organizer bag. There is no information about the material of the bag. One reviewer noted that the material is thin though. This set has steel tools.
What’s included in the kit:
- Weeder
- Hand fork
- Hand rake
- Transplanter
- Trowel
- Pruner
- Spray bottle
- Pair of gloves
Although 71% of the reviews were 5 star reviews with 297 respondents, a few reviews stated that “you get what you pay for”. The tools are not as sturdy as reviewers hoped, but they do get work.
Pros | Cons |
Inexpensive beginner set, great for light gardening | Cheap, but you get what you pay for |
Large pocket in the middle of the organizing bags to carry other additional tools or harvest | No indication of what bag is made out of. Thin material and no rigidity to the bag |
Elastic straps on each tool pocket to secure them. | Durability is questionable of tools |
Does not provide the size of gloves. |
7. Qingfangli Garden Tool Set, 10 piece $38.99 (+$5 coupon)
This set comes with an organizing tote with pockets for your tools and a middle pocket for extra storage. It’s a 10-piece kit with stainless steel tools. The set received a 4.5 star rating out of a possible 5, and has 416 reviews. Of those reviews, 70% gave 5 stars. Each of the tools have a rubber handle which is ideal for no slipping.
What the set includes:
- Folding hand saw
- Shovel
- Trowel
- Weeder
- Rake
- Fork
- Pruner
- Flower & fruit scissor
- Crack weeder
- Tote
Overall, like the other tool sets, with the exception of Fiskars, reviewers recommended this set for light duty gardening and to stay away from tough soil, like clay. This is also the first kit out of the ones we’ve looked at thus far that includes a folding hand saw. There is a carbon steel handsaw that can be used for camping, hunting, and cutting small tree limbs.
Weighing the Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Comes with a folding hand saw | For light duty gardening |

Comes with both a crack weeder and weeder. Crack weeder can be used to get in between cracks of pavement. | Scissors could be sharper |
8. Carsolt Garden Tool Set $30.99
Carsolt has two options of tool sets. This set comes in two different options: a 3 piece set and a 10-piece option. However, we’ll be focusing on the 10-piece option. The 3 piece set only comes with a big trowel, a transplanting trowel, and a hand rake. The 10-piece set offers a variety of tools for beginner gardeners.
It includes the following items:
- Large canvas tote which appears a lot larger than the other sets previously reviewed
- Folding hand saw
- Weeder
- Weeding knife
- Straight pruner
- Curved pruner
- Trowel
- Transplanter
- Hand rake
- Gloves
The tote comes with 8 pockets on the exterior which gives you great organization. One reviewer noted that the tote was sturdy, making it a good addition if you’re planning to also use it to store other items in the large pocket in the middle. I love the fact that this set comes with a folding hand saw too. It’ll be useful to have it on hand.
Pros | Cons |
Tote is sturdy and doesn’t flop over. It appears to be larger than the other totes previously reviewed. | Quality control may not be very good. One reviewer received two left handed gloves. |
Comes with a folding hand saw which can come in handy when doing garden clean up. | One reviewer stated that the metal looks like it is stamped metal. |
Great for beginner gardener |

It has carbon steel tools with rubber handles. The tote is a 600D (polyester) oxford fabric. It has 6 pockets on the exterior to organize your tool, as well as a large center pocket.

10. NAYE Garden Tool Set $33.29 (+ $2 coupon)
The NAYE Garden Tool set comes with 9 pieces, which include the following:
- Handy tote bag
- Pruning shear
- Garden trowel
- Transplanter
- Weeder
- Hand fork
- Hand rake
- Kneeling pad
- Garden gloves
It comes with aluminum tools with rubber handles. The tote is polyester and cloth. Each of the tools and the tote have floral prints on them.
Unlike the other sets that we’ve looked at so far, this set is not only useful for outdoor gardening, but indoor gardening as well. 84% of those who submitted a review gave this kit a 5-star rating. Overall, it received 4.8 out of 5. Reviewers stated that the tools were sturdy, but the gloves were not very durable. In my opinion, having a knee pad in this set is extremely useful. There were a couple of complaints that resulted in a 1 star rating. One was for missing gloves in the package, and the other 3 were for tools breaking or gloves ripping. Of those that gave 4 stars, they stated they did not yet know the durability of the tools since they had just received them.
Pros | Cons |
Comes with a knee pad | Floral design is not for everyone. Many stated it’s suitable for a Mother’s Day gift. |
Most reviewers said the tools were durable | Does not provide the size of gloves. |
Company offers a 90 day warranty to test them out and either sends a replacement or provides a refund if there are issues. |
11. Kit4Pros Floral Garden Tool Set $36.97
Rust is a big issue when it comes to gardening tools. The kit comes with 10 pieces and sent to you in a gift box. Most of the tools are a rust resistant aluminum. The pruners are made from Japanese SK-5 carbon steel and titanium coated. Each of the tools has a rubber handle. The tote is a 900D waterproof fabric (polyester). It has a total of 8 pockets on the exterior to organize your tools. The gloves are a natural latex material.
There are two different colors that you can choose: a floral set (floral pattern on the tote and tools with a robin’s egg blue background) or a pink floral (floral pattern on the tools and tote. The tote has a hot pink background).
It comes with the following tools:
- Pruning shears
- Trowel
- Hand rake
- Cultivator
- Transplanter
- Weeder
- Spray bottle
- Gloves
- Tote organizer
- Butterfly stakes
The kit received 471 reviews, with 88% giving a 5 star review and an overall rating of 4.8 out of a possible 5. It did not receive anything lower than 3 star reviews, so no 2 star or 1 stars received.
The quality of the tools appears to be good and are not a thin, stamped steel. Any negative comments were in relation to the pruning shears. There is no way to lock the shears and/or the shears were difficult to open and close.
Pros | Cons |
Better quality tools, not made of thin metal. Longevity should be long | Floral pattern so may not be suitable for everyone |
No negative comments below a 3 star rating | No safety lock for the pruning shears |
Tools work well for root extraction | Does not provide the size of gloves. |
12. YRTSH Garden Tool Set $19.98 (+5% coupon)
Unlike the other sets we’ve reviewed thus far, the tools in this set have wooden handles. Although this isn’t a huge deal to have wooden handles, I personally prefer ones with rubber handles. There are a total of 13 pieces that come with this set, including a tote for organizing your tools. The description doesn’t state what the tote is made of. The tools are steel.
If you choose to purchase it, here’s what you get:
- 328 feet jute twine
- 100 feet twist tie
- 10 oz spray bottle
- 8 plant labels
- Garden bag
- Gardening gloves
- Pruner
- Trowel
- Transplanter
- Hoe
- Cultivator
- Weeder
- Garden stakes
The Ratings
The set received a 4.8 out 5 star rating and only 59 reviews. 87% gave it 5 stars, while 10% gave a 4 star review, and 3% gave a 1 star review. However, I was only able to view some of the 5 star ratings. Each of the tools and the bag seem to be durable. What I like about this kit is that it includes twine, twist ties, and garden stakes. The twine and twist ties are super useful in the garden as you never know when you’re going to need to tie something up. Garden stakes are important for marking what you planted and where. There have been so many times when I either planted seeds or a plant and forgot what it was. Sometimes seedlings look very similar so it’s easy to mix them up!
Let’s look at the pros and cons of this set.
Weighing the Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Garden stakes included for marking your plants | Wooden handles – may not be as easy on the hands or there could be some slipping in comparison to rubber handles |
Twine and twist ties for tying up your plants | Unable to view all comments about this set. What’s up with that Amazon? Because of this, we can’t get a clear picture about these tools. |
Consumers agreed that these tools are durable. | Does not provide the size of gloves. |
Nice variety of tools |
13. ESOW Garden Tool Set $19.80 (+5% off coupon)
There are only 3 tools in this set and do not have the variety that a lot of the other sets have. They come in 4 different color combinations: cherry red, cactus pattern (white background with green cactus pattern), grass green, and silver with a red stripe on the inside of the handle. It does not come with a tote. If you’re looking for an organizing tote, there are plenty of options on Amazon to choose the style that you want. These tools are made from heavy duty stainless steel with rubber handles. They’re ideal for pruning, digging, weeding, loosening soil, aerating, transplanting, as well as other tasks.
When you get this set, the following tools come with it:
- Hand trowel
- Transplant trowel with depth measurement indicator
- 3 pronged hand rake
The ESOW gardening set is rated 4.6 stars out of a possible 5 stars. 78% gave 5 stars and most commented on how happy they are with the quality of the tools. One customer commented that the tools are well made and casted. They are not welded together. Tools that are welded can have issues with their integrity. The handles on each of the tools were said to be comfortable. The longevity and the quality are questionable in spite of the raving reviews this set received. Although only 2% of the reviews were 1 star ratings, 38 written reviews were given. There was a trend indicating that the tools quickly broke with the handles snapping off.
Weighing the Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Transplant trowel has depth measurement indicator | Questionable quality – even though there are many positive reviews, there were comments of the tools snapping in spite of no welds. |
Rubber handles for better grip | Organizing tote would have to be purchased separately, if needed. |
Comes in a variety of colors
In spite of only having 3 tools, this set is a nice starter pack |
14. ChuangF Giftable Garden tool set $44.99
ChuangF is the most expensive set we’ve come across so far at $44.99. As of the writing of this post, it doesn’t have any discounts on it, but maybe keep an eye on it for holiday sales. It’s a 9 piece set with tools made from “black thick iron”, per the description. Each tool has a non-slip rubber handle. The tote is made from thick oxford cloth and has a leaf pattern. The description doesn’t say what the gloves are made from, however, it does state that they are waterproof and stab resistant. According to the company, the tools can be used in all seasons and at the beach, in the snow, and even in a sandbox.
The set received a 4.4 star rating out of a possible 5 star rating. 69% gave it a 5 star review, 16% gave 4 star review, 8% gave a 3 star review, 3% gave a 2 star review, and 4% gave a 1 star review.
What do you get in the set:
- Trowel
- Transplanter

- Sprayer
- Garden line (looks like a plastic rope)
- Garden gloves
- Tote
What are the pros and cons of this set?
Pros | Cons |
Multi-use tools – the company says these can be used for both indoor and outdoor use. | Mixed reviews on the sturdiness of the tools. Some said they were sturdy and worked well while others said they felt flimsy. |

Pattern on the tote may not be favorable for everyone.
Not suitable for harder soils, especially rocky soil. |
15. MECHREVO Gardening Tool Set $22.81 (on sale)
The Mechrevo set earned 4.6 stars out of a possible 5 stars. In spite of the high rating and amongst the best selling tools on Amazon, individuals stated that although they work well, they are cheaply made. The materials used to make them are not strong. The company states that the tools are made from sturdy, rust- proof aluminum, and they have rubber handles which are really useful to have. It comes with a tote which has 9 compartments on the exterior and a large, tall pocket in the center. It’s made of polyester and washable. The bag has some negative reviews as to how flimsy it is and not a stiff material that stands up straight. The bag is said to flop over.
So what comes in this set?
- Measurable trowel (looks like a transplanting trowel with depth measurement)
- Weeder
- Transplanter
- Pruners
- Hand rake
- Hand fork
- Knee pad
- Sprayer (or spray bottle)
- Gardening gloves
Pros | Cons |
Comes with a knee pad | No size mentioned for the gloves |
Can be used by gardeners of all levels of experience from beginner and up | Does not state what the gloves are made out of |
Nice variety of tools that are suitable for many of your needs | Tote may be flimsy and does not stand up straight |
Material used to make tools is not very strong. A customer mentioned that the handles aren’t metal underneath the rubber. They appear to be some sort of plaster |
16. SOLIGT 8-Piece Gardening Hand Tools $27.99 (on sale)
The SOLIGT has a storefront on Amazon with a variety of different products that are not just limited to gardening. Although there is no information on the company on the storefront page, they do offer mason jars and mason jar accessories, recipe books, fermenting products, and other things. Their gardening set received 4.7 stars out of a possible 5. There are a total of 8 pieces in this particular set. The tools are made with stainless steel and have wooden handles. Instead of a canvas or fabric tote, which is more durable, it comes with a hand-woven wicker basket to store your tools in. It has 3 smaller slots and one longer slot on one end of the basket.
What does this set come with:
- Pruning shears
- Hand cultivator
- Large trowel
- Transplanter
- Weeder
- Hand rake
- Gardening gloves
- Garden tool storage basket
Although 76% gave a 5 star review, there’s also a mixture of comments stating that the set is good and works well, while others state that the set is made cheaply. One reviewer mentioned that the basket looks like it’s made of wicker, but it’s actually cheap plastic. The material the gloves are made out of is thin and doesn’t seem like they’ll last very long. Others noted that the tools felt like they were cheap like what you’d find at the Dollar Store, while others said that they’re flimsy and some of the tools broke soon after receiving them.
Weighing the Pros and Cons of This Set
Pros | Cons |
This set comes with a basket instead of a tote. It’s a more presentable touch. | Mixed reviews about the quality of the set. The majority of the reviews really like the set but others say it’s very cheap and not durable. |
In spite of the plastic material of the basket, it’s sturdy and not flimsy. | No rubber handles on the tools. |
Tools are sharp. | |
Tools are light in weight. |
17. INNO STAGE 10 Piece Gardening Hand Tools Set (Prime price $33.96)
This is a pretty cool set because of what’s included. The set comes with different variations and colors, but the set with the most reviews comes with a gardening stool. The gardening stool under which you can attach a gardening tote. The tote is attached to the seat with plastic buckle clasps, and the stool’s even foldable. This is a great addition to your gardening tools and accessories as it prevents less bending over, helps save your knees and backs from the aches of the pains of gardening, helpful if you have mobility issues, as well as other benefits.
Other things you should consider when buying a set with a stool, or even a stool on its own, are: weight capacity, whether or not you’d like one with rolling wheels, additional back support, and its overall functionality.
Unfortunately the listing doesn’t state the weight limit of the stool.
What else does the set come with?
- Trowel
- Weeder
- Transplanter
- Rake
- Cultivator
- Pruning shears
- Spray bottle
- Rubber gloves
- Removable tote bag
- 98ft bind line
- Foldable seat
The tools are made out of stainless steel with wooden handles, while the gloves are made of rubber, polyester, and come with digging claws. The set received a 4.7 rating out of a possible 5, with 79% giving a 5 star rating. Most reviewers thought that the tools were great quality and pretty robust. However there were negative reviews to be aware of. It seems with a lot of these gardening sets it’s hit or miss with quality. Some of the reviewers noted that the tools broke after a short period of time, and quickly wore through the gloves. Another reviewer mentioned that the tools seemed to be made out of a thin sheet metal material so the shovels easily bent and the stool was wobbly.
Weighing the Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Comes with a stool to help with ergonomics and those with mobility issues. | Tools are made of a thin metal material and may bend easily – quality seems to be questionable. |
Tote can be attached or removed from underneath the seat with buckle clasps. | Gloves may not be very durable due to thin material. |
Ease of portability of both the tools and the seat since the tote can be attached. | No weight limit of the stool mentioned in the listing of this product. |
Tote can be washed and it’s waterproof.
Seat can be folded for easy storage. |
Summary
Overall, there are a lot of different sets of tools to consider when you decide to buy a set. Buying a set provides convenience as you have a set amount of tools all in one purchase. I would say that buying a set may be worth considering for beginner gardeners so they can learn how to use the different tools and give them a good starting point. I perhaps wouldn’t recommend these for those who have been gardening as they may be inclined to have better quality tools and build their own sets.
