Homesteaders and Gardeners to Follow on YouTube in 2026

If you’ve ever wished you could peek over the fence into someone else’s garden or homestead to see how they’re doing it… YouTube is the next best thing. I like to scope out what others are doing so I can apply them to my own garden, get different ideas, and learn new techniques.

The thing about gardening is that you’re constantly learning something. There’s never a moment where something isn’t learned. Youtube is the perfect place to meet people that are like-minded with more and more content creators joining the community.

This post is all about the best homesteaders and gardeners on YouTubers to follow in 2026—from practical tutorials to peaceful garden tours to real-life “here’s what worked and here’s what definitely didn’t” content. These creators will motivate you, teach you, and remind you that you can start homesteading right where you are.

Why Follow Homesteading + Gardening YouTubers?

Seeing someone else succeed and having some hiccups along the way to learn from makes the journey feel so much more doable. Everyone, even the most seasoned gardeners, have failures. There aren’t just videos about gardening though. There’s tons of information about all sorts of subjects like:

  • Step-by-step tutorials you can replicate in your own backyard
  • Realistic homestead life: they touch on subjects like raising livestock.
  • Beginner-friendly gardening advice or even more advanced gardening skills
  • DIY inspiration for tight budgets, including building your own home
  • Seasonal tips that help you plan ahead
  • Encouragement for those “am I doing this right?” moments

Some of these Youtubers garden in different ways from raised beds to vertical gardening, no matter how much land they have. Let’s get into it!

Roots and Refuge Farm

@RootsandRefugeFarm

Jess and Jeremiah are beloved in the homestead community for good reason. Jess’s storytelling style feels like sitting on a front porch with a friend who genuinely wants you to succeed. The couple and their children originally lived in Arkansas and moved in recent years to a larger plot of land in South Carolina. They’ve steadily gathered a following of 640,000 followers since start and creating videos since 2015.

  • Gardening for beginners
  • Homestead tours
  • Seed starting (this is actually where I started to learn and want to grow from seed!)
  • Food preservation
  • Honest conversations about building a life from soil up

There are so many good topics that they cover and I highly recommend watching their channel.

The Seasonal Homestead

@TheSeasonalHomestead

This channel is one of my favorite and I’ve been following Becky and Cameron for a few years. They went from growing on half an acre to 52 acres, where they built a house, set up a huge garden, and even have an orchard.

What I love about this channel?

Becky and Cam are so transparent about what happens on their homestead in terms of their successes and things that haven’t gone so well. They recently posted a video of a tour of their property and even reviewed what they would do differently if they were starting from scratch. For example, Becky mentioned that their orchard was set up too far from the house and did not have access to water. So they plan on planting more fruit trees closer to the garden and house.

Check out their latest video because it ties in so well with my recent posts about buying land.

The Elliott Homestead

@TheElliottHomestead

Shaye Elliott brings charm, beauty, and practicality to homestead living. She lives on a farm in rural Washington and has been on her homesteading journey for over 15 years. On her blog and YouTube channel, Shaye shares recipes, glimpses into her daily life, about gardening (she has a beautiful cottage-feel garden!), and even has an online community for cooking.

Justin Rhodes

@JustinRhodes

Justin is yet another homesteader. His channel is practical, funny, and filled with hands-on projects. On his channel, he talks about raising livestock (including butchering), regenerative farming, living off grid, and some many other interesting topics. Justin created an online community specifically for homesteading that you can’t find on his YouTube channel. He collaborates with other creators to make this community. Additionally, Justin introduced me to Joel Salatin, the king of regenerative farming. If you don’t know who Joel is, you’ll have to look him up too! Honestly I would watch all of Justin’s older videos as they’re all about homesteading, while his newer videos focus more on his health.

Urban Farmstead

@UrbanFarmstead

Ok, so far we’ve reviewed homesteaders that have quite a bit of land, and we’ve been talking about homesteading exactly where you are right now. In comes Urban Farmstead for those of you that are on this journey in an urban area, who are building it all right in your backyard. Keith, who runs the channel, shares lots of DIY projects like building a patio and fire pit, creating a privacy hedge, and even the first steps to take before installing your garden. One of his most popular videos is about establishing a home orchard, in which he explains how to plant trees, irrigate them, and prune.

Garden Answer

@GardenAnswer

Laura brings gardening education to a whole new level. Her channel is all about gardening, landscaping, and she has wonderful tutorials for beginners and more experienced gardeners. What I like most about her channel is that she tells you exactly what she’s doing each month in the garden. For example, some of these monthly videos are about cleaning up her pond area, trimming back the plants around the pond, and power washing. She also has videos about tips on planting potatoes in raised beds. Her channel also covers the following:

  • Flower gardening
  • Container gardens
  • DIY outdoor projects
  • Seasonal ideas and plant education

Hollar Homestead

@HollarHomestead

The Hollars moved from a suburban area in California to North Carolina for a different way of life. They document their journey with homesteading on their YouTube channel and hold in person workshops. Currently, they have a 2-day hands on hog butchering class.

Check out this channel if you’re looking for:

  • Building projects
  • Raising animals
  • Garden tours
  • Real-life homesteading ups and downs

More Than Farmers

@MoreThanFarmers

This is probably one of my favorite channels on YouTube. More Than Farmers, run by Michelle and Codi, share the real, everyday side of homesteading — not just the highlights. Their channel focuses on raising animals, working the land, and building a more self-sufficient life, while also showing the challenges that come with it. It’s honest, practical, and especially encouraging for anyone interested in homesteading beyond the aesthetic. They grow all of their food that comes from the garden on 1/8th of an acre, which is definitely very inspiring for those who think you need a lot of land to grow.

Wild Wonderful Off-Grid

@wildwonderfuloffgrid

There is so much information on this channel and it too is one of my favorites. Erin and Josh document their family’s transition to homesteading, the self-build of their home debt free, launching and running 2 businesses, and so much more.

This Off Grid Life

@ThisOffGridLife

If off-grid living fascinates you, this channel shows the raw, real version of it. Not sugar-coated, but honest. Greg and Katie are a Canadian couple from Northern British Columbia. They’ve been living off grid for a while, but recently purchased 300 acres where they’re starting their off grid homestead all over again. Follow along as they navigate clearing land, building infrastructure, and getting their homestead set up.

They share about:

  • Solar systems
  • Off-grid home builds
  • Water systems
  • Cooking and preserving
  • Life in the wilderness

It’s the perfect for long-term homestead dreamers.

Anne of All Trades

Last on this list but definitely not last in all this channel has to offer. Anne who runs the channel, is based out of Nashville, TN, with her husband Adam. They raise and sell “dairy, beef, eggs, and build heirloom quality furniture.” Her farm focuses on regenerative practices. Anne is a wealth of information and shares so many tips, as well as any failures she’s had and what was learned from them. She also built a craft school known as the School of All Trades where she’ll have in person and online classes.

Final Thoughts

Homesteading and gardening are lifelong journeys, and YouTube makes it possible to learn from some of the best teachers out there. These creators are honest, generous, and inspiring, and following them can help you build confidence in your own backyard, no matter the size.

Whether you’re planting a first seed or planning a future property, these channels can help guide your next steps.
