Easter is a magical time for kids, filled with egg hunts, springtime fun, and of course, Easter baskets! It doesn’t necessarily have to involve giving your kids lots of candy, or even going overboard with gift giving. Whether you’re looking for unique Easter basket stuffers, DIY ideas, or gifts for babies, there are plenty of creative ways to make this holiday extra special.

Kids Easter Basket Stuffers
We’ve all received plenty of candy for each holiday, but what are some other great ideas for Easter basket stuffers? Is there a theme you’d like to focus on? Is there something your kids actually need? What can you do differently than you did last year?
Instead of filling baskets with just candy, consider adding a mix of fun and practical items. Here are some ideas:
Books
Easter-themed picture books or a new bedtime favorite. My daughter LOVES books so books are sure to be a hit no matter what time of year. Think about even having a dedicated shelf for seasonally focused reads for your littles. Some great Easter book finds are:
- It’s Not Easy Being a Bunny by Marilyn Sadler
- How to Catch the Easter Bunny by Adam Wallace
- We’re Going on an Egg Hunt: A Lift-the-Flap Adventure by Martha Mumford
Art Supplies
Grab some crayons, coloring books, watercolor paints, and sticker sets. Lots of kids like to do things with their hands. My daughter is definitely one of them. If you’re worried about a mess, get Crayola’s Mess Free line. These are products that only allow children to color or paint on dedicated pages and not things like your walls. Coloring is something my daughter (she’s 2!) can do for at minimum a half hour.
- Crayola Color Wonder Magic Light Brush, Mess Free Painting Station for Kids
- Crayola Color Wonder Mess Free Fingerprint Ink Painting Activity Set, Finger Painting Alternative
- Crayola Color Wonder Mess Free Fingerprint Ink Painting Activity Set, Finger Painting Alternative
- Crayola Color Wonder Paintbrush Pens & Paper, Mess Free Coloring
Small Toys
Mini puzzles, stuffed animals, or LEGO kits are good for so many ages. (Of course only grab toys that are age appropriate!) For the littlest ones we have some of the following which my daughter loves to play with:
- Melissa & Doug Ms. Rachel Wooden Song Peg Puzzle, Light Activated, 6-Piece with Full Songs
- Melissa & Doug Farm Animals Sound Puzzle
Outdoor Play Items
Look into some activities like sidewalk chalk, bubbles, jump ropes, or kites. Sidewalk chalk is kind of like coloring and I don’t know many kids that don’t enjoy this activity. As I kid, I loved sidewalk chalk, bubbles, jump ropes, and kites. Back then we had good wholesome fun outside. Think of what you enjoyed as a kid. The worst jump ropes were those ones with the plastic beads or those jelly ones. They were great because of the weight but if they smacked your shins, forget about it! Here are some fun suggestions:
- Crayola Ultimate Washable Chalk Collection (64ct)
- Urban Infant Non-Toxic Sidewalk Chalk for Toddlers and Kids
- GiftExpress Adjustable Size Colorful Jump Rope for Kids and Teens
- Fubbles Bubbles No-Spill Bubble Tumbler for Babies Toddlers and Kids
Bath Time Fun
There are so many different ideas for bath time, all of which can be age appropriate. Some ideas are scented bath bombs, rubber duckies, magnesium bath flakes, or bubble bath. Here are some non-toxic and/or organic ones that you can grab for their Easter basket:
- Momcozy Natural&Organic Essential Oil Bath Bombs,14 Pcs
- Bath Bomb Gift Set – USA Made with Natural & Organic Ingredients (this one is even good for adults!)
- Ancient Minerals Magnesium Bath Flakes
- The Honest Company Purely Simple Bubble Bath, Fragrance Free
The Dollar Store has rubber duckies for those looking to stay on a budget.
Healthy Snacks
Ditch the candy this year and opt for healthier snacks! This is an area where you can potentially save money, depending on how you want to go about it. Try making your own:
- Fruit snacks (ie. dehydrated apples, fruit leather, etc)
- granola bars or granola
- trail mix
- Fruit packets or purees
There are lots of ideas for healthy snacks that you can find right on Pinterest. Or maybe you don’t have a lot of time to do these extra things. Opt to buy them from the store but without the added sugar. Our favorite pouches are from Serenity Kids. We grab them for on-the-go, or when my daughter happens to be having a picky day. Her favorites are the Berry Smoothies, Chicken, Bison, Beef, Beef and Ginger, Roots, and Squashes.
Make it Festive
Give them cute little ideas like bunny ears, sunglasses, or festive socks.
Theme-Based Kids Easter Basket Ideas
I find that having some sort of theme for just about anything really helps to jog the creative juices and get into a flow. If you want to create a themed Easter basket, here are some fun concepts:
- Garden Basket – Include small pots, soil, flower seeds, and a watering can. Set up a small area in your garden or backyard for them to grow something. Have them check their garden and teach them how to maintain it. Since I do a lot of gardening during the warmer months, this is something I’m really passionate about doing with my daughter.
- Crafty Kid Basket – Fill it with markers, glue sticks, stickers, and paper crafts. Create your own basket and get something like this adorable birdhouse building and painting project.
- Sports Basket – Add a small soccer ball, baseball mitt, jump rope, or something they might need for a sport they currently participate in.
- Movie Night Basket – Include popcorn, a kid-friendly DVD, and a cozy blanket. Add in a movie night snack tray and some of these cute popcorn bags to make it extra special.
- Science Lover Basket – Fill with a simple science experiment kit, magnifying glass, and a fun fact book. Companies like Kiwico and National Geographic have really cute science projects to do for kids of all ages.
- The Science of Ice Cream (great to add in with your movie night basket)
- Crystal Chemistry Garden
- National Geographic Air Rocket Toy
- Learning to Cook – cooking is a vital skill to learn for kids of all ages and you can start with age appropriate activities to do in the kitchen. Grab this Weesprout cooking and baking set for your little chef.
DIY Easter Basket Ideas
Creating your own Easter basket is a fun and budget-friendly way to customize gifts for your child, or you can grab them from my gift shop on Etsy! Try these DIY ideas:
- Personalized Tote Bags – Instead of a basket, use a canvas tote with your child’s name. Choose a cute bunny graphic too!
- Mason Jar Mini Baskets – Fill a mason jar with little snacks, stickers, or small toys.
- Repurpose a Sand Bucket – A beach-themed basket with a shovel, sunscreen, and a beach ball.
- Bunny Ears Basket – Attach fabric bunny ears to a simple basket for a festive touch.
Easter Basket for Baby
Even the littlest ones can enjoy Easter surprises! Consider these baby-friendly basket fillers:
- Soft Plush Toys – A cuddly bunny or chick.
- My daughter has had a little bunny that’s she’s been enjoying since she was really little. She got it for her first Easter. Grab this one that’s similar.
- Board Books – Touch-and-feel or lift-the-flap books. We’re Going on an Egg Hunt has been her favorite!
- Teething Toys – Silicone teethers or soft rattles. This one sticks to the theme of Easter and in the shape and coloring of a carrot. Stick it in the freezer for some added relief.
- Baby Snacks – Puffs, yogurt melts, or fruit purées.
- Comfort Items – A personalized blanket or a cute onesie.
Easter Gifts Beyond the Basket

If you’re looking for gifts beyond a traditional basket, here are some great options:
- Personalized Easter Shirts – Cute shirts with a bunny design and your child’s name.
- Easter Pajamas – Festive pajamas for a cozy Easter morning.
- Spring-Themed Toys – Bunny-shaped stackers, wooden puzzles, or plush animals.
- Experience Gifts – A trip to a petting zoo, a children’s museum, or a nature walk.
- Personalized Easter mugs – personalize your child’s mug to enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate for breakfast or another one of their favorite beverages. These are enamel mugs made from stainless steel so you don’t have to worry about them breaking like ceramic ones.
Easter baskets don’t have to be filled with just candy—by incorporating toys, books, and creative DIY elements, you can create a memorable and meaningful holiday celebration for your little ones. Happy Easter!
